The more I read facebook status updates from my friends already abroad, the more I cannot wait to leave for Sevilla. And with most of my friends back at their respective universities to begin another semester, my anticipation and excitement are growing exponentially. Though I have ants in my pants now, I'm sure that before I know it, I will be on my first flight to Germany and later connecting in Barcelona, only to arrive in Seville at noon on Friday, January 22.
With four more days left in Massachusetts, I am preparing to pack a full semester's worth of clothing and necessities into one 50-pound suitcase, an unnatural task for a 20-year-old shop-a-holic. This daunting task has me throwing in the towell every so often, finding better alternatives like creating this blog and watching tv re-runs to avoid the necessary challenge. Futhermore, as my departure date quickly approaches, I find myself "yes-ing" my dad to death about everything from phone bills to spending money to safety. His daily reminders of the dangers of foreign countries are sure to persist long after I board my first flight and settle into my host family's apartment. At least I will have skype and a webcam to communicate with my parents and keep their inevitable worries at bay.
Spain is just a few short days away and I can't wait to share more of my excitement and travel stories through this blog. Stay tuned for more updates of fun European adventures to come.
